Mitchell Starc regained the top spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings after the Cape Town Test, while Shreyas Iyer moved up two places to seventh in the T20 batting list.

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has returned to No. 1 in the ICC Test bowling rankings after a superb performance against South Africa. In the latest T20 rankings released on Wednesday, India captain Shreyas Iyer moved up two places to seventh.

The third and final Test of the three-match series was played in Cape Town. Starc took nine wickets in it and moved up one place, overtaking South Africa's Marco Jansen. The Australian left-arm fast bowler's rating is now 881, the best of his career.

Starc had also become No. 1 for the first time in August, when he overtook India's Jasprit Bumrah. Jansen then reached the top after taking six wickets in the second Test in Gqeberha. In the Cape Town Test, Jansen managed only three wickets, and Starc used that to reclaim the top spot.

South Africa's Simon Harmer has also gained in the new rankings. At Newlands he took six wickets in Australia's second innings, which helped the team win the match and the series. The off-spinner has climbed nine places to seventh and is now one place ahead of his team-mate Kagiso Rabada.

Despite losing the top spot in Test bowling, Jansen has strengthened his position in the Test all-rounders' list. He scored a fifty in the third Test and reached a career-best rating. In this list Wiaan Mulder has moved up one place to third, while Harmer has gone up three places to fifth.

In the Test batting rankings, Aiden Markram has moved up one place to 11th. Mulder has climbed seven places to 17th. Ryan Rickelton made the biggest jump among South Africa's batters, rising 25 places to 23rd, his career-best ranking.

Australia's Cameron Green and Alex Carey have also improved their rankings. They have moved up three and two places respectively and are jointly 19th. After West Indies' eight-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first Test in Mirpur, Justin Greaves rose 12 places to joint 38th. West Indies bowler Jomel Warrican is 30th in Test bowling, and Roston Chase has risen to joint 23rd in the all-rounders' list.

Meanwhile, after the tri-series in Pakistan ended, Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf gained in the ODI rankings. Afridi rose one place to fifth and Rauf moved up five places to 24th. Opener Fakhar Zaman climbed nine places to 37th in ODI batting. England's Ben Duckett is sixth after improving by one place, and Sri Lanka's Pavan Rathnayake rose 20 places to 16th.

After India's T20 series win over New Zealand, Shreyas Iyer is seventh in the batters' list. New Zealand's Glenn Phillips has also risen 13 places to 24th among T20 batters.
