The trailer of Sohala, a Marathi film presented by actress Sonali Bendre, has been released, and the film reaches cinemas on October 16.
Actress Sonali Bendre, who has made a distinct mark in Bollywood, is now associated with the Marathi film industry too. The trailer of the much-awaited film Sohala, which she is presenting, was released recently. The film will release in cinemas on October 16.
The trailer offers glimpses of delicate relationships, childhood and the emotions of village life, and has drawn the attention of audiences for that reason.
Sohala is a deeply sensitive and emotional story of a young boy living in a village and his family. The story unfolds amid the warmth and closeness of village life. Along with childhood, family and friendship, it also looks at how children slowly come to understand the world around them.
In Marathi, "sohala" means "celebration". The title draws on the idea of the traditional coming-of-age ceremony observed in families and communities across Maharashtra. A special sentiment connected to the story is therefore hidden in the name itself.
Speaking about the trailer, Ms Bendre said she connected with the film instantly. "I connected with this film at once. This world is simple and familiar. It has some small moments that stay with us forever as time passes," she said.
She added, "I hope that when people watch this trailer, they will feel something like what I felt when I first saw Sohala. Perhaps in Pashya's story they may find some part of their own lives."
Through Sohala, Ms Bendre is working for the first time as the presenter of a Marathi film, and this association with the Marathi film industry is being seen as special. After the trailer's glimpse of the film's emotions, audience curiosity about this different story has grown.
The film has Pravin Dalimbkar, Devdatta Prashant Gone, Varsha Malwadkar, Vaishnavi Sanjay Ghodke and Alessandra Whelan Meredith in the lead roles. It is directed by Saikat Bagban.
The film is produced by Goldie Behl and, under the banner Carry On Films, by Sachin Shrivastava, Ratna Shrivastava and Kavita Bagban. After the trailer, all eyes are now on how audiences respond to this delicate story of childhood and relationships.
