Another farmer has lost her life in a tiger attack in Sindewahi taluka of Chandrapur district. Premila Pundalik Mahadole, a 40-year-old woman farmer from Bhendala in the taluka, died in the attack. Her body was found in her field. The incident has spread fear across the area.

Mahadole had gone to her field to harvest the sesame crop. A tiger lying in wait attacked her at that time, according to preliminary information given by Anjali Sayankar, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Sindewahi. She has confirmed the attack on the basis of this preliminary information.

Villagers are angry and frightened after the incident. This is the 35th death in human-wildlife conflict this year. Tigers continue to stay in the taluka and wildlife attacks have not stopped, and with incidents following one after another, a shadow of terror hangs everywhere.

Notably, two farmers have died in tiger attacks in the taluka in just the last two days. On October 24, farmer Nana Kambdi, who had gone to his field at Palasgaon Jat in Sindewahi taluka, was killed by a tiger lying in wait. Today, a woman farmer has again lost her life in the same taluka.

With incidents occurring one after another, farmers, farm labourers and livestock keepers are living in great fear. Farmers are distraught because going to work on their own land to earn a living now risks their lives. They are asking how they are to do their work in the fields.

Villagers have alleged that the Forest Department has failed to curb the growing conflict between humans and wildlife. They have expressed deep concern and demanded that the department take urgent, strict measures and guarantee their safety. Residents are making a forceful demand that the Forest Department take concrete steps to protect human lives.
