Shots allegedly fired in the air near Hasanbagh flyover in Nagpur's Nandanvan
Three to four people who arrived in a car allegedly fired a shot in the air near DL Motors late on Thursday night; police are checking CCTV footage.
An incident of firing was reported late on Thursday night near the Hasanbagh flyover in Nandanvan, Nagpur, causing panic in the area. At about 12.30 am, three to four people arrived by car near DL Motors. One of them allegedly fired a shot in the air. They then fled.
According to preliminary information, the occupants of the car stopped near the flyover, and shortly afterwards one of them allegedly fired in the air. Hearing the sound, people living nearby were frightened and came out of their homes. By then, the suspects had left in the car.
On receiving information, Nandanvan police and senior police officers reached the spot. Police have begun examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the area to find out which car it was and who was in it.
Police are said to have got some leads about the suspect car. Sources also indicated that a suspected criminal from the Mahal area could be involved in the firing. However, police have not officially confirmed the identity or involvement of any particular person. Police have not yet said who exactly was in the car.
Why the firing took place and who was involved will become clear in the investigation. For now, Nandanvan police are searching for the suspects on the basis of CCTV footage and other information. No arrest has been reported in the case.
