Shinde Sena's Pratik Sharma mocks Thackeray cousins in cartoon over October 4 Mumbai march
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS president Raj Thackeray have announced a joint march against the Election Commission's SIR; a Shinde faction functionary has responded with a cartoon.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray have announced a joint march against the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The march will be held in Mumbai on October 4, 2026. Pratik Sharma of the Shinde faction has now criticised the Thackeray brothers over it.
On Monday, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray held a joint press conference and explained their stand behind the march. The two appealed to other political parties and ordinary citizens to join it. They also said that all parties, leaders and citizens in the state should turn out in large numbers to protect the Constitution and democracy.
The march is planned from Byculla to CSMT. An appeal has also been made to workers to carry only the national flag, not party flags. Another route, from Byculla (Richardson and Cruddas company) to the BMC headquarters or Azad Maidan, is also under consideration. The plan for the route is being reviewed at the administrative and party levels.
Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have announced this "Jan Morcha" against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They have taken the step to protest what they describe as manipulation of voters in the name of SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and the commission's way of working. Through the joint march, both parties, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS, have taken an aggressive stance and targeted the ruling party.
After the press conference ended, Pratik Sharma, in charge of the Shiv Sena Shinde faction's social media cell, posted a cartoon on social media. With it, he targeted the Thackeray brothers with the words: "Drought inspection crossed out, Sunday march strategy being played out over the phone."
Sharma has claimed that the Thackeray brothers are giving more importance to the political march on October 4 than to the problems of drought-hit areas. This is a political allegation by a functionary of the Shinde faction.
While explaining the purpose of the march, the Thackeray brothers have questioned the SIR process for voter rolls. They have also made allegations about the Election Commission's way of working. The Election Commission has rejected the claim that its decisions on SIR are invalid because of differences within the commission. The commission has said the final decisions were unanimous.
Ahead of the October 4 march, the exchange of allegations between the Thackeray brothers and the Shinde faction appears to be sharpening.
