Athletes from Satara district who did well at the Asian Games 2026, currently under way in Japan, were given a grand welcome in Satara on Monday. They raised the tricolour and brought honour to the country and the district at the international level. Preparations were made across Satara city to see them, and crowds gathered.

A large victory rally was taken out in Satara to honour the district's gold medallists at the Asian Games. Thousands of students from schools and colleges across the city, young athletes, sports lovers and local residents took part with enthusiasm.

The rally was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, the District Sports Council and the office of the District Sports Officer. After the rally, the main felicitation ceremony was held at Chhatrapati Shahu Stadium.

The entire stadium erupted in applause from spectators and sports lovers as Asian Games 2026 gold medallists Sahil Rajesh Jadhav, Rutuja Dadasaheb Pisal and Sudeshna Shivankar came on stage. District Collector Santosh Patil and Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingale honoured all three gold medallists with a shawl, a coconut, a certificate of appreciation and a memento.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Santosh Patil said, "By hoisting the tricolour at the Asian Games, these talented athletes of Satara district have etched the name of not just Satara but the entire country in golden letters on the world stage. Their historic achievement will be highly inspiring for thousands of child and young athletes in the district. The district administration is committed to creating quality sports infrastructure in Satara district and to supporting athletes in every way."

Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingale also congratulated the athletes and praised their disciplined hard work. He said, "Winning a gold medal in any international competition is no small matter. Behind it lie years of unbroken effort, discipline and sacrifices by the athlete's family. Satara Police and the entire district are deeply proud of the dedication that Sahil, Rutuja and Sudeshna have shown."
