Sachin Waze gets bail from special NIA court in Antilia explosives case
The dismissed police officer has been granted bail in the case over an explosives-laden vehicle found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's Antilia residence in Mumbai.
Sachin Waze, a dismissed police officer, has finally been granted bail by a special NIA court in the case over an explosives-laden vehicle found near the Antilia residence of Mumbai industrialist Mukesh Ambani. The reasons for granting bail and the conditions imposed will become clear only after the detailed order is made available.
The case began on February 25, 2021, when an SUV carrying explosives was found near the Antilia residence in South Mumbai. Mansukh Hiren, a Thane businessman linked to the vehicle, was later found dead on March 5, 2021. The investigation into both incidents subsequently passed to the NIA, and Waze was arrested in March 2021.
In July 2026, the special NIA court rejected Waze's plea for discharge in the case. He had sought to be released from the case, but the court did not accept the plea. The court had said there was enough material on record to frame charges.
On August 1, 2026, the special NIA court framed charges against 10 accused, including Waze, Pradeep Sharma and Sunil Mane. The charges include criminal conspiracy, murder, kidnapping and offences under the UAPA. The accused have not pleaded guilty, and the trial is under way.
