Rs 70 lakh loss as fire guts tent decoration shop in Nagpur's Bada Tajbagh
A late-night fire destroyed the stock and goods of a tent decoration shop in Bada Tajbagh, Nagpur, with the initial loss put at about Rs 70 lakh.
A major fire broke out late at night in a tent decoration shop in the Bada Tajbagh area of Nagpur. As news of the blaze spread, panic gripped the neighbourhood. The stock and all other goods inside the shop were burnt to ashes. The initial estimate puts the loss at about Rs 70 lakh.
The shop is said to belong to Haji Mohammad Wakil. According to the information available, the fire started in the shop at around 12:11 am. Residents of the area saw smoke coming out of the shop, and it soon turned into a large fire.
After the fire was reported, a team from the Sakkardara fire station reached the spot and began fighting the blaze. Firefighters struggled for some time before the fire was brought under control. By then, however, everything inside the shop had been completely burnt.
The fire department's initial assessment puts the loss of property at about Rs 70 lakh. A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, though the actual cause is yet to be established.
The police have also been informed. Officials are now investigating further to determine the exact cause of the fire. They are also assessing the total loss so that its full extent can be established.
