Rs 25,000 crore provided for tribal area development under Parliamentary Cluster project: Fadnavis
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state is ready to implement the action plans drawn up under the project, which aims to curb migration by creating jobs in villages.
The Parliamentary Cluster Development Project was inaugurated at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today that Rs 25,000 crore has been provided for the development of tribal areas through the scheme.
Fadnavis said the state government is ready to implement whatever action plans are drawn up under the project. He expressed hope that migration could be stemmed by creating employment in villages themselves. He added that social change could be brought about by raising the standard of living of people in tribal areas.
According to the Chief Minister, the project has four main aims: developing tribal areas, improving people's standard of living, creating jobs and stopping migration. He said the Centre's and the state's ongoing schemes for tribal areas would have to be brought together. Development must be integrated and carried out by forming clusters of villages rather than treating a single village alone. Enterprises that improve people's lives will also be part of it.
Fadnavis said the idea for the project was put forward five to six years ago and is now being acted upon. He said reports show the project has produced good results in Nandurbar district. The farm sector is benefiting on a large scale, and this is also changing people's standard of living, he said.
The Chief Minister also said the Centre has framed two schemes for tribal areas, which are speeding up the area's development. If schemes related to education, health and employment are implemented effectively, the results can match expectations. Fadnavis stressed that it is necessary to ensure the benefits reach the real beneficiaries and to keep effective control over implementation.
Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike, former Union Minister of State Dr Bharati Pawar, and MLAs Ravindra Chavan and Yogesh Sagar were present at the event. Gajanan Dange of the Yojak Sanstha and V. Satish, convener of the Parliamentary Cluster Project, were among others who attended.
