Rs 122.85-crore sub-district hospital proposed at Kamptee in Nagpur district, approval in final stage
The state government is in the last stage of approving a new sub-district hospital at Kamptee, to serve Ramtek, Mauda, Parseoni and Kanhan as well.
Given the growing population of Kamptee and surrounding areas in Nagpur district, the state government has taken a major step towards expanding health facilities. The process of approving a proposal to build a new sub-district hospital at Kamptee at a cost of Rs 122.85 crore has reached its final stage.
The hospital will come up as a G+2 building on about 7 acres of government land in the Ravidas Nagar area of Kamptee. Land in the Dragon Palace area was considered earlier, but the site was changed because of technical hurdles, and the Ravidas Nagar land was chosen. Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule played a key role in making the land available.
People in Ramtek, Mauda, Parseoni and Kanhan, besides Kamptee, will benefit from the hospital. The new building will have a trauma care centre, an ICU, a ventilator unit, a dialysis centre, a large OPD and indoor wards. It has been stated that this will help critically ill patients get immediate treatment and reduce the need for people to travel to Nagpur city for dialysis.
Meanwhile, the building of the existing old sub-district hospital will be used as a fully equipped maternity hospital. It will have a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for newborns, along with the services of gynaecology and paediatric specialists. Keeping future needs in mind, a revised G+2 proposal, in place of the earlier G+1 plan, has been sent to the government.
