Revenue squad seizes truck carrying eight brass of illegal sand near Gondpipri

A revenue squad in Gondpipri has seized a truck in a case of illegal sand transport. The truck was found loaded with eight brass of sand. The action took place on the Chandrapur-Aheri national highway and has set off alarm among sand smugglers in the area.

The squad stopped the truck near Phalke Dhaba at around 4 am on Friday, October 23, 2026. The dhaba is on the edge of Gondpipri town, beside the national highway. According to the squad, the truck had no valid permit for carrying sand.

The Gondpipri tehsil is rich in natural and mineral resources, and illegal sand smugglers transport sand stealthily from time to time. To rein in the trade and the smugglers, the revenue administration is on full alert under the guidance of Tehsildar Shubham Bahakar.

In this connection, the squad, out on patrol in the early hours of Friday, grew suspicious. It stopped the truck, registration number MH-32 AJ-7772, and checked it. The check showed that the truck was carrying eight brass of sand without a permit.

Questioning revealed that the truck's owner is Zubair Khan of Wardha district, while the driver is Irfan Shah of Amravati district. The truck had no valid permit or papers for transporting sand. Once this was established, the revenue department immediately seized the truck and took it into custody.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Tehsildar Shubham Bahakar by the squad's circle officer, Sukeshani Kamble, patwari Uikey and driver Gaurav Meshram. The move has caused panic among illegal sand transporters in the tehsil.
