Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut alleged the government is ignoring the majority mandate in Gokul and said people would take to the streets if the farmers' verdict is not respected.

Mumbai: Thackeray faction MP Sanjay Raut has strongly criticised the government over the Gokul issue. Speaking to the media, he touched on several subjects, including the Gokul election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the election in the United States.

Speaking about the Gokul election, Raut said the government had become drunk on power. He alleged that the government is trying to hand Gokul to those who have been defeated, ignoring the majority. He also said the government plans to sell Gokul to the Gujarat lobby. Saying these people do not care about democracy, he added that four directors are being appointed to suppress people's sentiments and bring in the government's own control, and that this is a sign of swollen arrogance of power.

He asked whether the government cannot tolerate a panel elected through democratic means. He also said that, by disrespecting the majority, those who lost have been installed in power.

Raut warned that if the government does not accept the verdict of five and a half lakh milk-producing farmers, people will take to the streets. Saying the Maha Vikas Aghadi must come together to save Gokul, he said the Fadnavis government would have to pay the price for this. He also said Amit Shah's bullying must be broken.

Speaking about Prime Minister Modi, Raut said Narendra Modi is the country's Prime Minister but is a dishonest personality. He said Modi should order inquiries against everyone, but conducts only those that suit him. He alleged that an attempt is under way to create confusion by taking Supriya Sule's name. Raut also said that however many political dice Modi throws, Sharad Pawar will not get trapped in his net.

Speaking on the US election, Raut said Donald Trump and Narendra Modi have similarities. He said Trump, Modi and Netanyahu form a trio. Saying people are looking for an answer to why America entered the war, he added that the American public has rejected the politics of hate. He said this is a victory for people of all religions, and that the public does not accept extreme religious fanaticism.

A political controversy has arisen over the appointment of directors and the formation of the board after the Gokul election. Raut put forward these views on that dispute.
