Police in Rajura, Chandrapur district, have detained a youth from the Somnathpur area. According to police, he was walking on the road with a sharp cleaver in his hand. The action took place at around 11 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026. A 34-cm-long iron cleaver was seized from him. A case has been registered under the Arms Act.

Assistant Police Inspector Laxman Subhash Lokre of Rajura police station was on patrol with his team. The patrol was part of action against illegal activities, combing operations and nakabandi in the police station's jurisdiction. The team was travelling in a private vehicle. During this, a secret informant told them that a man was moving about in a suspicious manner on a public road near the Jhende in Ward No. 11 of Somnathpur, carrying a dangerous weapon in his hand.

The police acted immediately. Taking two panch witnesses along, the team reached the spot near the Jhende in Somnathpur and set up a trap. At the place the informant had indicated, a youth was seen walking with a sharp, cleaver-like weapon in his hand. Police surrounded him from all sides and detained him.

During questioning he gave his name as Vaibhav Suresh Regundawar. He is 22 years old and is said to be a resident of Ward No. 11, Somnathpur, Rajura. Police seized from him an iron cleaver, about 34 cm long, sharp and pointed. The cleaver is valued at Rs 400.
