Raju Patil asks supporters to skip birthday banners for digital wishes
MNS leader Raju Rattan Patil has urged supporters not to put up flex banners and hoardings for his September 26 birthday, asking for digital greetings instead
MNS leader Raju Rattan Patil's birthday falls on September 26. Every year, his supporters put up flex banners, hoardings and greetings at major squares and junctions across the city to mark the occasion. But this time Patil himself has asked his supporters, party workers, friends and family not to put up any such banners.
Banners and hoardings wishing political leaders and office-bearers on their birthdays are commonly seen across the city, but Patil has appealed for none of this on his birthday.
Speaking on social media, Patil said that greetings that come at the cost of inconveniencing the very public whose love and support he relies on are not acceptable to him.
He also said that the large number of flex banners and hoardings put up in the city affects its appearance. He said these banners, often installed along roadsides or at junctions, can also cause difficulties for people. For this reason, he said, public spaces and the convenience of citizens should be kept in mind while celebrating birthdays.
However, Patil did not say that workers should not wish him at all. His request is only that greetings be conveyed through digital means, phone calls or messages instead. He has specifically stressed that social media and other digital methods should be preferred over putting up large banners in public places.
Along with MNS workers, Raju Patil also has a large following among young people, so there will be considerable attention on how supporters respond to his appeal on his birthday.
Meanwhile, MNS chief Raj Thackeray had also told party workers ahead of his own birthday in June 2026 that instead of putting up large hoardings, they should run initiatives that are of use to people.
