Tourists at Tikona Fort in Maval taluka can now scan a QR code on their phones to listen to its history in an online audio book.
Vadgaon Maval: Tikona Fort, also known as Vitandgad, the well-known historic fort in Maval taluka, will now tell its story to visitors itself. New technology has been used so that tourists can easily get information on the fort's history, its historic structures and the surrounding area.
A QR code has been put up at the fort. Tourists who scan it with their mobile phones can listen to the history of Tikona fort as audio. This will make a visit to the fort more informative than before. Alongside the traditional information about the fort's various sites and its history that was available so far, an online audio book has now also been prepared.
Large numbers of tourists and devotees of Shivaji Maharaj visit Tikona fort every year. But many of them could not get information on the significance of the fort's structures, the history behind them and the various events linked to the fort while looking at them on the spot. The QR code initiative has been taken to address this gap.
Information available 24 hours
The benefit of the initiative is that tourists can listen to the history of Tikona fort at any time, at their convenience. The information will be available 24 hours, so any tourist visiting the fort can scan the QR code whenever they wish and get the historical information. A modern digital medium has been used to reach information on different parts of the fort.
Help from AI technology
The AI Foundation and Netcreator Technology have together used modern technology to make this online audio book. The aim is for the history of Tikona fort and the available information to reach tourists more effectively. Going forward, the intention was expressed to use such technology on a large scale to take information on other historic sites, along with Tikona fort's history, to as many tourists as possible. Along with touring the fort, this will give tourists a chance to understand history and feel the historic heritage.
The initiative is also an effort to preserve and spread the history of Tikona fort and to connect the new generation with the history of forts. With the information available in digital form, it is hoped that tourists coming from other states as well as from Maharashtra will benefit.
