VHP threatens Vidarbha agitation unless Minorities Commission chief Pyare Khan is removed in a week
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad says it will launch a statewide agitation if the commission chairman is not removed within a week of his visit to Abu Salem in jail.
Nagpur: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has warned of a intense agitation in Vidarbha if Pyare Khan, chairman of the State Minorities Commission, is not removed from his post within a week. Parishad office-bearers have announced that after the Vidarbha agitation, the protest will be spread across the state.
Khan has been in controversy since he met Abu Salem, a convict in the Mumbai bomb blasts case, in Nashik jail and demanded his release. The Parishad has been agitating against him since then.
Parishad leaders told reporters on October 3 that Khan is engaged in cow smuggling, land grabbing and promoting "love jihad". These are allegations made by the Parishad's leaders. They demanded that Khan be investigated by the ED, the CBI and the NIA.
According to the leaders, Khan has been illegally holding the post of president of the Tajabad Trust for the past two years. They said work carried out through the trust during this period should also be investigated. The Parishad leaders also made clear that a complaint would be filed with the Charity Commissioner.
The Parishad leaders say that Sahil Syed, a criminal who trapped BJP leaders in honey traps, is always with Khan. The leaders also said Khan took him along when he went to Nashik jail. The Parishad has also demanded an inquiry into how Syed had a mobile phone in jail.
