Pune police have busted a car fitted with a fancy number plate and a logo claiming its owner was an MLA, even though no one in the owner's household is a member of the state legislature. The action was taken by officers of the Warje Malwadi traffic division. The case came to light on September 21, and a case was registered against the car's owner, Digvijay Deepak More, 33, a resident of Narhe, at Warje Malwadi police station.

Police inspector Pravin Jadhav of the Warje traffic division was on patrol with his team in the Karve Bridge area when they spotted a black car parked in front of a showroom in a manner that was obstructing traffic. The car carried a fancy number plate reading "MH12 SF12," and a logo reading "Member of Legislative Assembly, MLA" was stuck on the left corner of its front windshield.

Police used an e-challan machine to trace the owner's mobile number and contacted him, but he claimed the car did not belong to him. Police then waited for some time before calling in a crane to tow the car to the Warje traffic division office.

The next day, when police questioned the owner further, it emerged that neither he nor anyone in his family is an MLA. Police said the logo had been affixed with the intention of misleading people into believing he was a legislator. A complaint was filed on behalf of the government on this basis, and action was taken under Section 205 of the BNS along with Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

In a separate case, Baner police have arrested a man for posing as a police officer and extorting money from people. The incident occurred around 11 am on September 23 in the Laxminagar area of Balewadi. The arrested accused has been identified as Vaibhav Santosh Bhong, 25, a resident of Pisewadi in Malshiras, Solapur. Police constable Manoj Deshmukh filed a complaint in this matter at Baner police station.
