Pregnant woman raped and murdered in Baramati, accused held within two hours

An incident in Baramati taluka of Pune district has shocked the region. The accused broke into a pregnant woman's home in the Pandhare MIDC area and attacked her with a hammer. The severely injured woman was then raped and strangled to death. Given the seriousness of the case, Malegaon police station immediately began an investigation and arrested the accused within two hours.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Ganesh Ramchandra Mane, 26, a resident of Pandhare in Baramati taluka. Police said he entered the victim's house with the intent of forcing himself on her. The woman strongly resisted, but the accused ignored her resistance and began hitting her on the head and neck with a hammer.

The woman collapsed, bleeding and severely injured, after being struck with the hammer. But the accused's brutality did not stop there. He took advantage of her helpless and injured state and raped her. To avoid being identified and to escape, he then strangled the pregnant woman to death.

After the murder, the accused also tried to destroy evidence. With the intention of robbery, he stole the gold mangalsutra from the dead woman's neck and anklets from her feet before fleeing the scene.

On receiving information about the incident, a team from Malegaon police station reached the spot and pushed the investigation forward swiftly. With the help of technical investigation and confidential sources, police took the suspect, Ganesh Mane, into custody within two hours. Under police questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. Police have also received the woman's preliminary medical report, which confirmed that she was pregnant.

The brutal and inhuman incident has triggered a wave of anger across Baramati taluka. Local residents are demanding the strictest possible punishment for the accused, who tortured and murdered a pregnant woman in this manner. Malegaon police are continuing a thorough investigation into the case.
