Prasidh Krishna ruled out of third ODI against West Indies with injury
India have lost fast bowler Prasidh Krishna before the third ODI against West Indies after he was injured in the second match.
India have suffered a setback ahead of the third match of the three-match ODI series against West Indies, with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna ruled out of the squad.
Prasidh Krishna was injured in the second ODI, and the medical team has advised him to rest. The BCCI will soon name his replacement.
Two matches of the series have been played and India won both. India won the second ODI, played in Guwahati, by eight wickets. West Indies had set a target of 406 runs, which India chased down comfortably. Rohit Sharma also scored a fine century. Several major records appeared to be set in that match.
In the first two matches, India dominated West Indies with excellent batting and disciplined bowling. India lead the series 2-0, and will now try to complete a clean sweep by winning the third match.
The third and final ODI will be played in New Chandigarh on October 3. India have already secured the series.
There is intense discussion in cricketing circles about who will get a place in the team after Prasidh Krishna's exit. According to sources, one of the young fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar or Akash Deep, both of whom have performed impressively in domestic cricket and the IPL, could be given a chance.
The selection committee has also seriously considered Anshul Kamboj. He is currently playing for India A in the unofficial Test series against Australia A. As the third ODI is in New Chandigarh, Kamboj has reportedly been asked to leave the match against Australia A immediately and reach New Chandigarh.
