India's main pace bowler is out of the ODI series starting November 4 as he has not recovered from a hamstring injury; Mohammed Siraj joins India A.
India have suffered a blow even before the ODI series against New Zealand begins. The team's main fast bowler, Prasidh Krishna, has been ruled out of the series. The one-day series between India and New Zealand starts on November 4.
Prasidh has not yet recovered from a hamstring injury, which is why he had to be left out. He will need more time to become fully fit. However, after passing the Return To Play Assessment test, he will be able to play for India A in the third and last (four-day) match against New Zealand A.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has been included in the India A squad. He will join the team for the second four-day match against New Zealand A, starting on October 31, 2026.
Nitish Kumar Reddy's case is slightly different. His name has been added to the India A squad for the third unofficial Test. He had been selected for the first three ODIs, but will now join India A after the first ODI. That means he stays in the squad for the first one-day match against New Zealand on November 4, 2026. After that, he will join India A for the third and last four-day match against New Zealand A. This will give him practice before the two-match Test series against New Zealand starting on November 19, 2026.
