Praful Patel reviews Gondia-Bhandara road works, four-laning and bypass with officials
MP Praful Patel held a high-level meeting in Gondia on road works and traffic in Gondia and Bhandara districts, covering four-laning, a bypass and stalled railway overbridges.
MP Praful Patel has taken up an initiative to speed up road works and improve traffic management in Gondia and Bhandara districts. A high-level meeting was held in Gondia today, attended by senior officials of the National Highways, the Public Works Department and the Forest Department. MP Rajendra Jain was also present.
The meeting discussed in detail an elevated rotary at Balaghat T-point, four-laning of the Kohmara-Ghoti and Ghoti-Gondia roads, and the stalled railway overbridge works in Bhandara district.
Traffic around Balaghat T-point is growing by the day. In view of this, the meeting discussed at length preparing a proposal for an elevated rotary there immediately.
Officials were directed to inspect the stretches between Kohmara and Ghoti that fall outside forest areas (non-forest stretches) and put up a proposal for four-laning. They were also asked to prepare a suitable proposal for four-laning the Ghoti-Gondia road and send it to the department. Patel clearly instructed that, for the road sections that fall in forest areas, coordination with the Forest Department be done at once and the required clearance process be completed on time.
Gondia city is growing in both area and population. To resolve future traffic congestion, it was decided to conduct a feasibility study with a view to proposing a bypass outside the city. This will ease traffic pressure inside the city, heavy vehicles will pass outside it, and people will get considerable relief.
All departments concerned were directed to work in coordination and settle all pending matters at once, so that the stalled and pending railway overbridge works in Gondia and Bhandara districts are completed at the earliest.
Obstacles to development works in Bhandara and the Tumsar-Bapera-Khapa area were also reviewed. The officials concerned were told to coordinate with other departments and move all pending works forward immediately.
The meeting is expected to give a big push to the development of roads and basic infrastructure in both districts in the coming period. Steps have been taken towards making people's travel safer and easier.
