Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 76 today, on his birthday. As always, the occasion has brought renewed interest in his personal wealth. According to his most recent official asset declaration, Modi's total assets stood at Rs 4,01,60,999 as of March 31, 2026. Notably, the declaration lists no house, shop or agricultural land in his name.
The assets and liabilities document published on the Prime Minister's Office website gives a separate break-up of Modi's movable and immovable assets as of March 31, 2026. According to the document, his total declared assets on that date were about Rs 4.02 crore, a figure that could rise in future declarations. The entire amount comes from his movable assets, since no immovable property is registered in his name.
The largest share of his assets is in bank deposits and fixed deposits. The document shows a balance of Rs 3,562 in his bank account at the State Bank of India's Gandhinagar NSC branch, while his fixed and other deposits with the bank total Rs 3,79,76,101. As of March 31, 2026, Modi held Rs 34,429 in cash. He also has an entry of Rs 10,24,724 in National Savings Certificates (NSC).
Modi's declared assets also include gold. According to the document, he owns four gold rings weighing about 45 grams in total, valued at an estimated Rs 4,58,864.
The biggest question is how much property Modi owns. According to the March 31, 2026 declaration, he has no agricultural land, no non-agricultural land, no commercial building or shop, no residential house or flat, and no share in any other immovable property. The total market value of his immovable assets is also recorded as zero. In other words, according to this latest declaration, Modi does not own any farmland, plot, shop, house or flat.
Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, and turned 76 on September 17, 2026. His official website also lists his date of birth as September 17, 1950. The disclosure comes on his 76th birthday, showing total assets of about Rs 4.02 crore as of March 31, 2026, despite his owning no immovable property.
