Owaisi says Gadkari gave AIMIM's five MLAs 45 minutes, calls UP polls different
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi thanked Union minister Nitin Gadkari for hearing out his party's Bihar MLAs, then attacked the BJP over UP
A surprising statement about Union minister Nitin Gadkari has come from AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who is seen as one of his sharpest critics. Owaisi publicly praised Gadkari and thanked him.
Owaisi was in Kanpur on Sunday, September 20. There he described what happened after his five MLAs elected from Bihar met Gadkari.
Owaisi said that after AIMIM's five MLAs won in Bihar, they met Nitin Gadkari, who heard them out patiently and gave them a full 45 minutes. During the meeting, the MLAs raised problems related to old bridges, underpasses and other infrastructure. Owaisi said he told Gadkari, "Sir, please make a call and get the work started." Gadkari then immediately called the concerned officers and directed them to start the work as soon as possible.
Owaisi also said Gadkari told those officers, "The Majlis people are sitting at my house." Recounting this, Owaisi publicly thanked Gadkari.
Owaisi then turned his attack directly to Uttar Pradesh politics. He said the upcoming assembly election would be completely different from previous ones, and would be different and more challenging compared to the 2014, 2017, 2019 and 2022 elections.
Owaisi alleged that the BJP had not fulfilled the promises it made. He said that while there was talk of Yadav politics during the Samajwadi Party's time, there was now talk of Thakur dominance.
Owaisi also targeted the government over development, electricity and law and order in Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that the poor had had their land grabbed under BJP rule. Owaisi said, "Earlier there was one kind of goondaism under the Samajwadi Party government, now there is another kind of goondaism under the Yogi government."
Owaisi also raised the issue of an SIT report on alleged irregularities linked to the Ram temple. He questioned why the government was not making the report public, and said the question of how the accused in these cases were getting bail would also be a major issue in the coming election.
