Weather patterns are shifting across several Indian states. While Maharashtra continues to swelter in intense heat awaiting rain, Uttar Pradesh has already seen the weather turn. On Thursday, several districts in the Purvanchal and Terai regions received heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, bringing down temperatures.

Rain is expected to intensify further in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 13 districts and a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in 29 districts. In addition, 52 districts are likely to see strong winds of 40 to 60 kmph. By Thursday evening, Prayagraj recorded 26 mm of rainfall, Sultanpur 20.8 mm, Amethi 19.8 mm and Gorakhpur 14.2 mm. Rain was also recorded in Barabanki, Ayodhya, Ghazipur, Ballia, Sonbhadra and Maharajganj.

A senior meteorologist said extremely heavy rainfall is likely in several areas on September 25 and 26, with effects continuing until September 27. Temperatures could fall by up to four degrees over the next four days. An orange alert has been issued for Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Barabanki, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, rain warnings have also been issued for several districts of Maharashtra. According to the weather department, some places may see heavy rain while others can expect light to moderate rainfall. Thunderstorms with rain are forecast for Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur ghat areas, Kolhapur, Sangli, Pune, Pune ghat areas, Nashik, Nashik ghat areas, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Dharashiv, Parbhani, Hingoli, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gondia districts. A yellow alert for heavy rain has also been issued for Satara, Satara ghat areas, Raigad, Solapur, Latur, Nanded and Gadchiroli districts.
