Tech company OnePlus has announced the launch date for its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16. In a post on social media, the company said the phone will launch in its home market of China on October 12. The announcement was made during the 2026 OnePlus Gaming Conference, where the company also detailed three of its core technologies.

OnePlus is positioning the phone not just as a regular flagship but as a gaming device. The company said the all-rounder flagship smartphone will launch with a new-generation Fengchi gaming kernel, which will handle hardware resource coordination.

The company claims the OnePlus 16 will deliver a native gaming experience with a maximum frame rate of 185 fps. OnePlus said it did not use a separate chip to achieve this level of gaming performance, but instead built a new, self-developed three-chip esports system into the phone. This system handles processing related to network connectivity, touch response and the display.

According to the company, this chip system also improves connection stability, touch response and visual clarity. The phone has a 185Hz display, which will offer high frame-rate gaming and faster visual response. OnePlus said the phone will support native 185 fps across multiple gaming platforms, including Peace Elite, Arena Breakout, Nishuihan: Future and Naruto Mobile. The company also presented 1-0 device tests for response advantage, claiming the device performs better than other devices under identical network and gameplay conditions.

The upcoming OnePlus smartphone is expected to come with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Earlier reports had claimed the phone will get a 200-megapixel primary camera, which could be paired with a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera lens. The phone may be launched in different colour options. The company is expected to share more details before the launch.
