A shocking case has come to light in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where a baby only a month old is alleged to have been sold for money. At an age when an infant should be safe in its parents' arms, it was made the subject of a deal.

Police investigation has found that the child was born of a live-in relationship. It is alleged that its biological parents themselves struck the deal. Through middlemen, the child was then sold again. According to the information available, the baby passed through four pairs of hands in just 48 hours.

According to the police investigation, Rs 1.20 lakh was paid in the first deal. The probe is also said to have found that the money was used to buy expensive mobile phones and gold jewellery. But the sale did not stop after the first deal. The child was handed from one person to another, and its price rose each time. Police have found three deals in all. In one of them, an amount of Rs 3.70 lakh has been traced.

The child was taken from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar via Nanded all the way to Telangana. The investigation found that this journey of more than 500 km was completed in just two days. The child's custody changed repeatedly during this time. Within a month of its birth, it was handed over to different people. The case has once again raised serious questions about child safety.

During the investigation, police have detained people suspected of involvement in the sale. It has also emerged that gold jewellery, mobile phones and other items were bought with the money from the deals. Police brought the child back safely. On the orders of the Child Welfare Committee, the child has been handed over to an institution.

Police have begun an investigation to trace those who sold the child and those involved in the deals. They are also trying to establish exactly who took part in the sale, how many people were linked to the deals and what the full chain behind the case is.
