New daily night train launched between Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar
Railways flags off a new daily train linking Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar, easing overcrowding on the route.
The railways has started a new service for people who travel between Kanpur and Delhi. A new train now runs daily between Kanpur Central and Anand Vihar, letting passengers sleep at night and arrive in Delhi by morning. The new daily train was flagged off by the railways on Thursday.
This route was already crowded, so the new train is expected to ease that pressure. Passengers travelling between Kanpur, Etawah, Aligarh, Ghaziabad and Delhi are expected to benefit significantly.
According to the railways, train number 14153 Kanpur Central-Anand Vihar Mail will leave Kanpur at 8:40 pm and reach Anand Vihar at 4:50 am the next day. On the return leg, train number 14154 Anand Vihar-Kanpur Central Mail will leave Anand Vihar at 11:25 pm and reach Kanpur at 7:25 am. The train covers a total distance of 428 kilometres, taking 8 hours 10 minutes on the onward journey and 8 hours on the return. Since it is an overnight journey, passengers will save a full day.
The train will not only run between Kanpur and Delhi but will also stop at several important stations in between, benefiting people in those areas as well. The new train will halt at Phaphund, Etawah, Tundla, Hathras, Aligarh, Khurja, Dadri and Ghaziabad stations. These are all major stations where large numbers of people travel daily.
The railways said this daily mail service will further strengthen connectivity between Kanpur and Delhi. People will get a good option to travel at night, meaning they can work through the day and complete their journey overnight.
Along with the train, the railways has also approved another major project. A four-lane road over bridge will be built at Alkapuri in the Vadodara division of Western Railway. It will cost a total of Rs 166.5 crore, with the railways contributing Rs 83.27 crore and the state government contributing Rs 83.27 crore, the two sharing the expense equally. The bridge is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the area.
Overall, the new train is expected to prove very beneficial for those travelling on the Kanpur-Delhi route. Since it runs daily, getting tickets should also be easier.
