Netflix announces Stranger Things prequel 'Other Worlds', due in 2028

Netflix has announced a new prequel to its popular science fiction series Stranger Things. The new series, titled "Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure", will reach audiences in 2028.

The announcement was made on November 6, marking "Stranger Things Day". According to the story of the series, Will Byers went missing on this date in 1983, which is why November 6 is observed as "Stranger Things Day" every year.

"Other Worlds" will be the fourth offering in the franchise. The original series, the animated spin-off series "Stranger Things: Tales from '85" and the stage play "Stranger Things: The First Shadow" have already reached audiences.

The prequel is set in the town of Marion in Nevada in 1955. It will show the experiences of Henry Creel's life before he came into contact with a mysterious alien entity. The story will show that contact with this entity gave him supernatural powers. Fans are therefore eager to learn how Vecna came to be and what lies behind his powers.

Several people are responsible for the series. Matt and Ross Duffer created it together with writer Kate Trefry. Trefry will work as its showrunner and executive producer. Jo Wright will direct the first three episodes. Shawn Levy, Paul Dichter, Shelley Miles, Andrea Sperling and Pavlina Hatoupis have also joined as executive producers. The series will be shot in New Mexico.

Matt and Ross Duffer expressed delight over the new project. They said they had held the idea of "Other Worlds" in mind for many years and were very happy that it was now becoming a reality. According to them, the series will remain connected to the world of Stranger Things, but will have new places, new heroes and new villains.

Showrunner Kate Trefry also voiced enthusiasm for the project. She said audiences would again feel the mysterious and thrilling atmosphere of the original series, along with a new story. Fans are already excited about the prequel arriving in 2028.
