The Maharashtra Public Service Commission has added 11,010 posts to the Group C combined preliminary examination 2026 and pushed the date back from January 3 to January 24, 2027.
There is relief for candidates of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission's (MPSC) Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination-2026. The number of posts has been raised by 11,010, and recruitment will now be held for a total of 16,717 posts. The examination had earlier been announced for 5,707 posts.
The decision was taken on the basis of the recommendations of a high-level committee of the state government and fresh requisitions.
The examination date has also been changed because of the increase in posts. Full time had to be given for receiving applications from new candidates and for taking options from eligible candidates who had already applied. The examination, earlier due on January 3, 2027, will now be held on January 24, 2027.
In view of the additional posts, candidates will get a chance to apply afresh. Those who applied earlier and, given their educational qualifications, are now eligible for more than one of the newly added cadres will be able to give their options. They do not need to apply again. A link for fresh applications and for giving options will be made available on the commission's website between November 13 and 27, 2026.
Under a government order of the General Administration Department dated November 5, 2026, a one-year relaxation has been granted in the maximum age limit fixed for entry into government service. Eligible candidates for the Maharashtra Group C Services Combined Preliminary Examination-2026 will also get this benefit.
A single combined preliminary examination will be held for the existing and the newly added cadres. The syllabus published on the commission's website on November 15, 2022 will apply. The examination will be conducted offline, on OMR sheets.
For the administrative cadres of Group C services that require general educational qualifications, the main examination will be held as per the fixed examination scheme and syllabus. For cadres that require specific educational qualifications, and for the newly added cadres, the main examination will be held separately. The syllabus for these cadres will be prepared on priority and put up on the commission's website soon.
Corrigenda on the increase in the number of posts and the change in the examination scheme have been issued on the commission's official website. In a press release, the commission has asked candidates to go through the corrigenda and act accordingly.
