A major organisational change is on the cards in the women's wing of the Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar. Women's state president Rohini Khadse has completed her three-year term, and the party is now preparing to give the post to Vidarbha. Dr Anjali Salve from the Nagpur division has emerged as the name for the post, and her appointment is being seen as likely.

Khadse, who hails from Khandesh, has been the party's women's wing state president for the past three years, raising the organisation's voice on various issues. With her term now over, the party is considering new leadership, sources said.

It has almost been decided that the responsibility of women's state president will go to Vidarbha this time, with Dr Anjali Salve of the Nagpur division emerging as the name for the post. However, an official announcement of her appointment is still awaited.

Dr Anjali Salve has been seen firmly putting forward the party's position on various issues, particularly on questions related to women and appointments to the women's commission. She has previously said that responsibility should go to those with experience of working for women and knowledge of laws related to women.

Political circles say that if she gets the responsibility of women's wing state president, it will give Vidarbha an important place in the party's women's organisation.

According to information received, the appointment letter may be handed to Dr Anjali Salve by state president Shashikant Shinde in the presence of the party's national president Sharad Pawar. However, the complete picture will become clear only after an official announcement by the party.

Meanwhile, there is also interest in what responsibility the party will give Rohini Khadse next, once her term as women's state president ends.

Separately, the NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar party has made another organisational appointment. Businessman Laxman Bandal has been appointed the party's state vice president. State president Shashikant Shinde handed him the appointment letter.

Laxman Bandal has previously served as sarpanch of Wadachiwadi in Haveli taluka. He has been an active party worker, and has pledged to take the party's organisational work forward in his new responsibility.

So while the leadership of the women's wing may move from Khandesh to Vidarbha, new appointments are also being made in the state organisation. Party workers are watching for when the official announcement of Dr Anjali Salve's appointment comes, and what responsibility Rohini Khadse is given next.
