Navodaya Class 9, 11 lateral entry application deadline extended again to October 22

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has issued a notification, through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST), for admission to Classes 9 and 11 for the 2027-28 academic session. The last date to apply has now been pushed back again.

Applications opened on September 2, 2026, with the last date initially set at September 30. It was earlier extended to October 15. The date has now been extended a second time, and interested candidates can register for the Class 9 and 11 lateral entry admissions 2027 until October 22.

The Samiti will hold the test for Class 9 and 11 admissions in April 2027. Admission to vacant seats will be given on the basis of selection and the test. No fee is charged to students applying for Class 9 and 11 admissions.

On age, a candidate for NVS Class 9 admission must have been born between May 1, 2012 and July 31, 2014. NVS will also give age relaxation for Classes 9 and 11 as per its rules.

Candidates must have the following documents to apply: birth certificate, mark sheets of the Class 8 and Class 10 examinations, residence certificate, a copy of the Aadhaar card, a certificate issued by the district administration for the rural quota, a caste or category certificate and a school leaving certificate.

On eligibility, only candidates studying in Class 10 in a government or government-recognised school in the 2026-27 academic session can apply for admission to Jawahar Navodaya. Candidates who studied in Class 10 before 2026-27 will not be eligible for this process. Passing Class 8 is required for Class 9 admission. The applicant must also be a resident of the district where the Navodaya Vidyalaya is located, and must have passed Class 8 or Class 10 from a government or government-recognised school in the same district.

To apply, first go to the official website of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, navodaya.gov.in. Click on the link for "Class 9 and 11 Registration 2027", then click on "Registration". After registering, fill in the form and pay the fee. Upload the required documents, such as a photograph and signature. Finally, check the form carefully and submit it.
