Gangapur police in Nashik have arrested a former student accused of drawing a woman professor into a relationship, harassing her online and demanding Rs 5 lakh in extortion by threatening to make her private videos and chats viral.
According to police, the suspect is Chetan Rajaram Aade alias Rathod, a resident of Ambad in Jalna. He had earlier studied at the college where the woman worked as a professor, and the two had known each other since then.
The professor was later transferred to another college. The suspect is alleged to have kept in touch with her even after the transfer and, using that acquaintance, gradually won her trust.
The complaint states that after gaining her trust, the suspect drew her into a romantic relationship. The two spoke online during this period. He is alleged to have screen-recorded private videos of the professor in the meantime.
