Nanded police externs 12 habitual offenders from three districts

Ahead of upcoming festivals, Nanded police have launched preventive action against habitual offenders to maintain law and order in the city. Twelve habitual offenders involved in extortion, forcible theft, assault, rioting, attempt to murder and carrying sharp weapons have been externed from Nanded, Parbhani and Hingoli districts for four months. Sub-divisional magistrate Dr Sachin Khallal issued the final orders in this regard on September 22.

With the aim of maintaining a safe environment for ordinary citizens, traders and women during the festival season, Nanded police had prepared a separate list of habitual offenders under the "2+ scheme". Externment proposals were drawn up against offenders whose names repeatedly figured in serious cases on record at the Shivajinagar, Wazirabad, Bhagyanagar and Nanded Rural police stations.

According to police, these offenders used to move around in groups at night carrying sharp weapons and daggers. They are said to have been active in stopping and threatening lone citizens, students passing by and shopkeepers, demanding extortion and assaulting them. Several serious cases including attempt to murder, forcible theft, robbery, house-trespass and assault, rioting and offences under the Indian Arms Act have been registered against them, and all these cases are currently pending in court.

Of the twelve externed, five belong to other districts, while seven are from Nanded itself. The list includes Vaibhav Suryatale, whose name is on record at Bhagyanagar police station. Action has also been taken against Yash alias Pillu Jondhale, Subodh Gajbhare and Prashik Kelkar, whose names are on record at Shivajinagar police station.

Srinivas alias Adu Jadhav, Premjyotsingh alias Sonu Topji and Suraj alias Surajya Hatkar, on record at Wazirabad police station, have also been externed. In addition, externment action has been taken against Akash Shitale, Shubham Sunewad, Ranjyotsingh alias Bachchusingh Bawari, Sayyed Salman alias Bhurya Sayyed Babumiyan and Avinash Som Bharati, all on record at Nanded Rural police station.
