Forty attendants in the general administration department were promoted as male health workers through counselling on November 4, ahead of Diwali, and will be posted to sub-centres.

Forty employees of the Nagpur Zilla Parishad have received a promotion as a Diwali gift. All of them were attendants in the general administration department and have now been made health workers (male) in the health department.

The entire process was completed through counselling on November 4, 2026. On the orders of Zilla Parishad CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, the promotions and postings were decided in the presence of Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General Administration) Anshuja Garate. It has been stated that the exercise was carried out transparently and with planning.

The new postings will be at various sub-centres under 56 primary health centres across 13 tehsils of the district. These sub-centres look after health services in villages under the Zilla Parishad's health department. Notably, this is the first time so many attendants have been promoted to health worker at one time.

As per the service entry rules of the Rural Development Department, 75 per cent of posts of health worker (male) are filled by direct recruitment and 25 per cent by promotion. On this ratio, 71 posts were vacant.

Ninety-seven attendants were eligible for promotion. Of them, 60 employees came for counselling. Of these 60, 40 gave their consent to the promotion, and these 40 were promoted.

The district administration plans to continue the promotion process in the same transparent, phased manner. The aim is to further strengthen rural health services. It has been said that this will boost employee morale and also considerably improve the quality of health services in remote rural areas.

Village health services will gain from the support of these experienced staff. It is believed that they will help in the proper implementation of mother and child immunisation, health surveys, prevention of infectious diseases and the government's various health schemes.
