Nagpur to host India's biggest solar ecosystem, says CM Fadnavis
CM Devendra Fadnavis visited Avaada Group's solar plant in Nagpur and said the city will become a hub for the sector within a decade
India's largest solar manufacturing ecosystem is taking shape in Nagpur, and the city will become a hub of this sector within the next ten years. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said this on Sunday and appealed to industrialists to invest in the sector on a large scale.
Fadnavis visited Avaada Group's plant in the Additional Butibori industrial area and saw the manufacturing process for solar modules there. He then held talks with industrialists. Avaada Group founder and chairman Vineet Mittal also took a special interview of the chief minister, in which they discussed the state's infrastructure, industrial development and upcoming changes in Mumbai.
On the new Nagpur project, the chief minister said a complete ecosystem for smart industry is being built there, and more than 50 percent of the land needed for the project has already been acquired, with investment continuing to grow. The country's first solar module facility is being set up in this Additional Butibori area. Avaada Group needed 250 acres of land to expand its project, and the chief minister himself announced that this would be provided.
Fadnavis also said the land acquired for industries in the Additional Butibori area has now run out, so there are plans to develop a third Additional Butibori industrial colony. Land acquisition is also under way for a new industrial area in Wardha district.
He described Avaada as the largest super-industry manufacturing solar modules and said smart modules are being produced there because of advanced integration. The chief minister said the project moved ahead quickly after the ground-breaking ceremony, and five thousand workers are currently employed there.
In his talks with industrialists, the chief minister said the steel industry is being encouraged and efforts are on to ensure industrialists get cheaper electricity. He said industries would start getting cheaper power by 2029. Work is also under way on solar battery storage so that power is available round the clock. The chief minister expressed confidence that this would end power shortages for industries.
He said Gadchiroli is emerging as a new steel city and has already attracted investment of four lakh crore rupees. An agreement has also been signed with a Belgian company to produce green steel in Gadchiroli.
The chief minister said roads and other facilities in Nagpur are improving by the day, so there is no reason outside investment should not keep growing in the city. He assured that the Maharashtra government is fully committed to providing land, electricity, water and good administration to new industries.
