Criminals assault tailor, demand extortion money in Nagpur
Three youths assaulted a tailor and a tea stall owner in Nagpur and demanded 20,000 rupees a month in extortion money, threatening to kill them.
Nagpur: Criminals under the Tehsil police station limits assaulted a tailor and demanded 20,000 rupees in extortion money. The incident took place near the first railway crossing at Panchpaoli in the Tehsil police station area of Nagpur.
Sanjay Kharbikar had gone to Panchpaoleshwar temple for darshan. While returning on his two-wheeler, three youths suddenly came in front of his bike near a tea stall run by Chandrashekhar Bhisikar, located near the first crossing at Panchpaoli. Kharbikar asked the youths to move out of the way. The youths started an argument, hurled abuses and began assaulting him. They picked up a large stone from the road and hit his bike with it.
Kharbikar is friends with Bhisikar, who runs the tea stall, and went to his shop. While he was having tea there, the accused youths returned and started assaulting Kharbikar again. Bhisikar tried to intervene. The accused showed Bhisikar a knife and threatened him, demanding 20,000 rupees every month as extortion money in exchange for letting him run the tea stall. They threatened to kill him if the money was not paid.
Kharbikar filed a complaint at the Tehsil police station. Police registered a case and arrested Soham alias Sonu Nimje and Akshay Dhakate. A third accused is absconding. Soham Nimje already has prior cases registered against him under the NDPS Act and for illegal weapons. Akshay Dhakate also has a prior criminal record.
