At a review meeting on projects underway at the Nagpur Medical College campus, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told officials clearly to quickly finish the remaining work on the super speciality dental hospital and research centre. The Chief Minister has directed that the centre be inaugurated within the next three months.

The centre will be equipped with the latest technology and a range of dental treatment facilities. Its launch is expected to bring major relief to dental patients not just in Vidarbha but across central India, and is also expected to give a new direction to dental education and research. Notably, it will be the first such centre in the country.

About 22,002 square feet of land has been taken for the project, and the hospital is being built on an area of 4,770.12 square metres. Its foundation stone was laid on January 4, 2019, by Chief Minister Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The meeting was told that around 80 percent of the building work has been completed. The government has approved new posts for the centre and recruitment is underway for some positions. Of a total of 91 posts, 60 have been filled so far.

Administrative approval has been given to purchase equipment worth about 3.89 crore rupees under the DPC for modern medical facilities. In addition, funding of about 3.43 crore rupees has also been approved under the state plan.

The launch of this super speciality centre will benefit not just Nagpur district but also patients coming from surrounding villages and far-flung areas. Everyone will be able to get world-class dental treatment under one roof, sparing poor and middle-class patients repeated trips to expensive private hospitals and giving them modern treatment at affordable rates.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clearly instructed the concerned officials and contractors that there should be no compromise on the quality of work, but all remaining work should be completed within the set time limit. He also said that no work should stop for lack of funds, so that local people can benefit from this world-class health facility as soon as possible.
