Preparations at Nagpur's Deekshabhoomi are in the final stage, with water, sanitation, health care, domes for lodging and a Hirkani room for women being arranged.

Preparations for the 70th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebrations at Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur have reached the final stage. Mayor Neeta Thakre and District Collector Kumar Ashirwad visited the Deekshabhoomi premises separately to inspect the arrangements. Round-the-clock drinking water, day-and-night cleaning, health facilities, domes for lodging and a Hirkani room for women are being arranged for followers.

Lakhs of followers from across the country and abroad reach Deekshabhoomi on the occasion. With this in view, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has speeded up work on essential civic amenities. Mayor Thakre inspected the premises on Friday and told officials clearly that followers should face no inconvenience of any kind and that all necessary facilities should be available on time.

Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani, Leader of the Ruling Party Balya Borkar, Additional Commissioner Milind Meshram, Chief Engineer Leena Upadhye, Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Uchke and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Bhagat were present during the mayor's visit. Officials of various departments, including Chief Sanitation Officer Dr Gajendra Mahalle, were also with her.

The municipal corporation will supply water round the clock for those attending the event. Sanitation workers will be deployed day and night, and a control room is also being set up to guide people. Work on lodging and other civic facilities is also going on at a war footing.

Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Itankar reviewed the arrangements. He named four top priorities: solid waste management, wastewater management, fire services, and law and order. The officials and staff concerned were also directed to pay special attention to these.

District Collector Kumar Ashirwad also inspected the preparations at the Deekshabhoomi premises. He took details about the domes being built to lodge followers. He also asked about the health facilities and other civic arrangements and gave the departments concerned the necessary instructions.

Sukeshini Telgote, Assistant Commissioner of the Social Welfare Department, briefed the Collector on the preparations. According to the available information, each dome is being arranged to lodge about 500 followers. A Hirkani room is also being built on the premises for the convenience of women.

As a large number of followers is expected, attention is also being paid to health services, fire services and movement within the premises. The administration wants cleanliness, drinking water, lodging and security arrangements to run without interruption during the event. With preparations in the final stage, the departments concerned now face the challenge of completing all arrangements within the set time.
