Nagpur: Man held with 17 g of MD in Rambagh, two others sought
Nagpur police's anti-narcotics squad arrested a 29-year-old with 17 grams of MD powder in Rambagh; goods worth about Rs 1.5 lakh were seized.
Police action against the drug trade in Nagpur city continues. In the latest case, the anti-narcotics squad arrested an accused in the Rambagh area under the Imamwada police station limits. According to police, 17 grams of MD powder, a mobile phone and a motorcycle were seized from him. The seized goods are valued at about Rs 1.5 lakh in all.
Police said the action was carried out in the early hours, near Maitri Buddha Vihar in Rambagh, on the road from Jaatarodi towards Medical Chowk. Sunny Bagde, 29, was taken into custody. He is said to be a resident of Rambagh, the same area where the action took place.
About 17 grams of MD powder was recovered from him during the search. Its estimated value is about Rs 51,000. Police also seized the mobile phone and the motorcycle. Together, the powder, phone and motorcycle make up goods worth about Rs 1.5 lakh.
Police said Bagde is already on police records, and information has emerged that serious offences are registered against him. Police are looking for two other accused, named as Swapnil alias Babloo Dinesh Nishad and Dikshit Dhavekar. The search for both is on.
A case has been registered at Imamwada police station under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police are now trying to establish where the recovered MD powder was brought from and to whom it was to be passed on. This is the next line of investigation.
