Nagpur: History-sheeter held with 58 grams of MD drugs, six others on the run
Yashodhara Nagar police seized MD drugs worth Rs 1.75 lakh and arrested a history-sheeter; six accused remain absconding.
The anti-narcotics squad carried out a major operation in the Yashodhara Nagar area of Nagpur, seizing 58 grams of MD drugs. Police arrested one history-sheeter in the case, while six other accused have been declared wanted. Besides the drugs, two mobile phones and a Scorpio car were also seized during the operation.
According to police, on the night of September 24, police constable Imran Shaikh, who was out on patrol, received a tip-off about MD drug trafficking in the Yashodhara Nagar area. Acting on the information, the police team reached the inner road facing building number P/01 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Sangharsh Nagar and stopped a suspicious person there. He was searched in the presence of two panch witnesses.
The search yielded about 58 grams of MD powder, estimated to be worth Rs 1.75 lakh. Including the two mobile phones and the Scorpio car seized, police put the total value of the seized items at around Rs 10 lakh.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ejazuddin Siddiqui, 40, a resident of Hamidnagar. Police said Ejazuddin already has 22 serious cases registered against him in various police stations under the Nagpur Police Commissionerate, meaning he has been on the police radar for a long time.
Police have declared Aamir Mukeem Malik, Kareem Mukeem Malik, Shibu Malik, Kaif Malik, Sagir Mohammed Latif Ansari and Osama as wanted accused in the case. All six are currently said to be absconding, and police are searching for them.
Yashodhara Nagar police station has registered a case against all the accused under the NDPS Act. Police are now trying to establish where the seized consignment of MD drugs was brought from and who else is active behind this trafficking network. Police teams are also raiding various locations to arrest the absconding accused.
