Nagpur Crime Branch detains 18 in 11 cases, seizes goods worth Rs 39.09 lakh
Nagpur city police's Crime Branch detained 18 accused and juveniles in conflict with law in 11 cases on September 29 and 30, seizing property worth Rs 39,09,640.
The Crime Branch of Nagpur city police ran a drive against various crimes on September 29 and 30, 2026. In 11 cases, a total of 18 accused and juveniles in conflict with law were detained. Police seized property worth a total of Rs 39,09,640 in these actions.
Different units of the Crime Branch solved five burglary cases. Stolen gold and silver jewellery and other items were recovered from the accused. Police also found some important leads during the investigation of these cases.
Two wanted accused who had been absconding in murder cases were also arrested. Police had been searching for them. After their arrest, they were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
The biggest action was against an interstate gang that cheated people in the name of foreign grooms. Crime Branch Unit 3 and the cyber team together busted the gang. Seven accused from Gujarat have been detained in the case.
Police seized four-wheelers, two-wheelers, mobile phones and cash from the accused. Their value was put at about Rs 18.45 lakh. The preliminary investigation revealed that the gang lured people in the name of a foreign groom and defrauded them of money. The cyber team is investigating the case further.
Apart from these actions, the Crime Branch also took action in separate cases under the Maharashtra Gambling Act and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
The Crime Branch's continuous action has caused alarm among criminals and organised gangs active in the city. The accused are being questioned to find out what other cases they were involved in.
