Nagpur crime branch cracks four house burglaries, two arrested and a minor detained
Unit 5 of the Nagpur crime branch has allegedly solved four cases of house burglary in the city. Police have arrested two accused and detained a minor during the investigation. Stolen goods worth Rs 4.57 lakh have been recovered.
The four cases were registered in the areas under Bhandewadi, Kapil Nagar and Kalamna police stations.
According to police, a house was burgled on the night of August 12 in Sonbaji Nagar, under Bhandewadi police station. The accused allegedly broke the lock and latch of the house and made off with gold and silver jewellery and cash.
After a complaint was received, Bhandewadi police registered a case. Separately, crime branch Unit 5 also ran its own investigation into the same case.
Acting on a tip, police detained Mayur Nagdeve, Neelam Ansari and a minor for questioning. The names of Amol Chafekar and Govind Sakhare also allegedly emerged during the investigation.
Police said the accused are suspected of involvement in burglaries at four houses in all. Two of the incidents took place in the Bhandewadi area, one in Kapil Nagar and one in the Kalamna police station area.
According to the investigators, the stolen goods were allegedly given to those detained to be disposed of. Based on information obtained during the investigation, police recovered gold and silver jewellery and other stolen items worth Rs 4,57,380.
The arrested accused have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action. Police are still looking for two more suspects who are allegedly involved in the cases.
