Nagpur college student, 18, accuses classmate of rape; police probe under way

A serious case has come to light in the Hudkeshwar police station area of Nagpur. An 18-year-old college student has accused a fellow student, a teenager, of rape. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the student's family and begun an investigation.

The matter came to light when the student's health suddenly deteriorated about two days ago. Her family took her to hospital for treatment, where a medical examination found that she was pregnant. After learning this, the family questioned her.

According to the complaint, the student told her family that the teenager who studied with her had raped her. The family then took her to Hudkeshwar police station and filed a written complaint.

The complaint given to police says the two studied at the same college and were acquainted and friendly because of this. It is alleged that the teenager drew the student into a romantic relationship, called her to his home and raped her. The student also alleges that she continued to be exploited after that.

All of this must be treated as allegation for now. The claims made in the complaint can be confirmed only after the investigation and legal process are complete.

Police inquiries have also found that the accused teenager is below 18 years of age. The legal process that follows in such cases depends on the age of the accused and the laws that apply.
