Two held in Nagpur for robbing man they met on gay dating app, forcing him to withdraw cash
Wathoda police arrested two men, aged 19 and 23, for allegedly robbing a 27-year-old technician at knifepoint and withdrawing about Rs 30,000 from his account.
Nagpur: A young man was robbed after befriending two men on a gay dating app. Wathoda police have arrested the accused, Antariksh Mishra (19) and Amit Patil (23).
The complainant, 27, is a resident of Mohadi in Bhandara and lives in Hansapuri. He works as a technician at a private hospital. He became friends with the accused through the app. The accused called him to meet near Bahadura Phata last night.
It is alleged that during the meeting the two assaulted Saurabh at knifepoint and snatched Rs 5,000 from him. They also took his ATM card and forced him to a nearby ATM, where they withdrew about Rs 30,000 through several transactions. They then beat him again and fled.
Police examined CCTV footage from the spot and the surrounding area, and the accused were arrested on that basis.
A case of attempt to murder, robbery and theft has been registered against the accused at Hudkeshwar police station. Police have learnt that they had targeted other people as well.
