A 13-year-old cyclist died after a speeding Bullet motorcycle hit him on Nagpur's newly opened Indora-Dighori flyover.
Just five days after Nagpur's Indora-Dighori flyover opened, a major accident took place on it. A 13-year-old student cycling on the flyover near Bada Tajbagh was hit from behind by a speeding Bullet motorcycle. The student was critically injured in the accident and died late at night during treatment. The deceased student has been identified as Kasib Siddiqui.
According to initial information, Kasib had gone out cycling at night with three or four friends. All the friends were riding through the Indora-Dighori flyover when, near Bada Tajbagh, a Bullet coming from behind at high speed hit Kasib's cycle. The collision was so severe that the Bullet rider was also injured along with Kasib. Immediately after the accident, a crowd gathered on the flyover, and people nearby rushed both the injured to a nearby private hospital.
Kasib had suffered serious injuries in the accident, so doctors, finding his condition critical, referred him to Medical Hospital for further treatment. According to family members, Kasib died late at night while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The Bullet rider, Vijay Tidke, was also injured and received treatment.
On learning of the accident, Sakkardara police reached the spot and began investigating the case. Police have registered a case against Bullet rider Vijay Tidke. Police are now trying to determine the speed of the bike at the time of the accident and the circumstances of the collision, and are investigating the entire sequence of events in detail. Since the flyover had only recently opened, the accident has also raised questions about road safety and vehicle speeds.
