Mungantiwar urges funds for four check dams on river near Pombhurna villages
MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has asked the Chandrapur Collector to sanction and fund four bandharas and venting structures in Pombhurna taluka.
Jamkhurd: Former sarpanch Bandu alias Dhanraj Bhauji Burande has demanded that funds be provided to build bandharas and venting structures on the river flowing past the villages of Bhimani, Devada Khurd, Jamkhurd and Chak Pombhurna in Pombhurna taluka.
Burande had submitted a representation on the matter to MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar. Mungantiwar then wrote to the Chandrapur Collector on September 21, 2026. In the letter, he requested that the works be given administrative approval for 2026-27 under the District Planning general scheme and that funds be made available.
A total of four bandharas and venting structures have been proposed on the river near the four villages. It is hoped that the works will increase water storage in the area and benefit local residents as well as farmers.
The letter also states that the District Water Conservation Officer, Chandrapur, of the Soil and Water Conservation Department has already sent a proposal for administrative approval of these works under the District Planning general scheme.
Mungantiwar has asked the Collector to have the concerned agency act as per rules to grant administrative approval to the proposal and provide the necessary funds. Bandu Burande's follow-up is expected to speed up the works.
