The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has begun work on a major plan to boost tourism in the state. Under it, five big tourist destinations in the state are being developed according to their individual strengths, and the list includes Vidarbha's famous Tadoba.

A grand five-star tourism resort will come up on 25 hectares of land at Tadoba. Initial survey work for the project has already started, and a master plan will be ready soon.

Tadoba is considered the most important spot on Nagpur division's tourism map. That is why, within the same 25-hectare area, a full wildlife safari hub will be developed alongside the resort. It will be a project with world-class five-star facilities.

Five-star luxury villas will be built here for the convenience of tourists, along with modern facilities such as a conference hall, a nature interpretation centre and eco lodges. Once this integrated project is complete, tourists visiting Tadoba will get a memorable experience combining natural beauty with recreation.

Because of its proximity and direct connectivity to Nagpur city, the project could give a new direction to the economy and tourism of the entire division. Domestic and foreign tourists landing at Nagpur's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport will now be able to come straight to Tadoba and enjoy international-level luxury facilities.

The mega project will also create new employment opportunities for youth in the Nagpur and Chandrapur area, especially in hospitality, guiding, transportation and local handicrafts.

It is not just Tadoba: infrastructure is being strengthened at other tourist spots across Maharashtra too. A 4-star resort will be built on 6.07 hectares at Mahabaleshwar, a 3-star project on 5.98 hectares at Harihareshwar, a coastal tourism hub with boating and heritage stay facilities on 4.85 hectares at Mithbav, and an eco-friendly heritage resort will be developed at Matheran. Tourism experts say this entire initiative will give a huge boost to the tourism business of Vidarbha and the whole state.
