MP Dhanorkar demands action against police officer over Rajura misconduct claims
MP Pratibha Dhanorkar has asked the district SP for a departmental inquiry against a Rajura police officer accused of abusing and assaulting citizens and elected representatives.
Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Patil of Rajura police station in Chandrapur district faces serious allegations of using obscene language against and assaulting ordinary citizens and elected representatives. Member of Parliament Pratibha Dhanorkar has taken the matter seriously and met the district Superintendent of Police, demanding a departmental inquiry and strict action.
The incident is reported to have taken place on September 19, 2026. Rajura city president Harjeet Singh Sandhu had gone to the police station to inquire about a family dispute involving the son of senior Rajura Municipal Council corporator Mangala Mokade. It is alleged that Assistant Police Inspector Yogesh Patil spoke to him rudely and in insulting language. Following this, Kunal Mokade was allegedly abused in filthy language and beaten. It is further alleged that the officer insulted elected representatives and leaders of all parties using extremely obscene and abusive language.
Separately, a complaint regarding the disappearance of a 14 year old minor girl is registered at Rajura police station. It is alleged that when the girl's poor widowed mother went to the station regarding the investigation, she was given no help and was instead spoken to in highly insulting words and turned away without any responsibility being taken. MP Pratibha Dhanorkar said the image of the police department is being tarnished by an officer who behaves irresponsibly like this instead of delivering justice to a helpless widow and ordinary citizens.
MP Pratibha Dhanorkar issued a clear warning that if the police administration continues to behave this way with the public and elected representatives, it will not be tolerated. She has demanded immediate strict action against the officer concerned under the law relating to elected representatives and disciplinary rules. She also warned that if the administration delays action on this matter, the Congress committee will launch a sharp agitation.
The delegation that presented the memorandum to the district Superintendent of Police included district Mahila Congress president Kunda Jenekar, Rajura taluka president Ranjan Lande, Rajura Krishi Bazar Samiti chairman Santosh Indurwar, Rajura city president Harjeet Singh Sandhu, working president Sanghpal Dethe, corporator Ejaz Ahmed, Rajura Municipal Council chairperson Poonam Girsawale, corporator Indubai Nikode, Anutai Harjeet Singh Sandhu, Mangala Mokade, Kavita Upre, along with Sumitra Kuchankar, Sonali Bhagat, Kunal Mokade and Rohit Battashankar.
