Police in Morshi, Amravati, have arrested a 19 year old youth for allegedly carrying a pistol-like weapon without a license. The action took place on the evening of September 24 in front of the Morshi Nagar Parishad building. When police searched the accused, they recovered a pistol-like firearm from him, following which a case was registered against him under the Arms Act.

Morshi police had received a tip-off that a youth was illegally carrying a firearm. Acting on this information, a police team reached the area in front of the Morshi Nagar Parishad building. Between around 6.15 pm and 6.45 pm, police searched the suspicious youth standing there and found a pistol-like weapon tucked into his waist.

According to police, the seized weapon has been valued at around Rs 25,000. After seizing the weapon, police took the youth into custody on the spot. The accused has been identified as Raja Natthu Uike, 19, a resident of Tawa Colony in the Juni Itarsi area of Narmadapuram district in Madhya Pradesh.

A case was registered at Morshi police station around 11 pm on September 24. The accused has been booked under Sections 25 and 3 of the Arms Act. Police arrested him the same night. Investigators are now trying to determine where he obtained the weapon, whom he got it from, and for what purpose he was keeping it.

The case is being further investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Tushar Chavan. The action was carried out under the leadership of station in-charge Rahul Kumar Athawale. The arrest, for carrying an unlicensed weapon in a public place, has sparked discussion in the area, and police are gathering more information about the source of the weapon and the accused's activities.
