Monsoon withdraws from Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra; humid heat to persist, Vidarbha stays dry
The monsoon has fully withdrawn from Mumbai and parts of the state, and the IMD expects dry weather across Vidarbha's 11 districts till October 7.
The monsoon's withdrawal from Maharashtra has officially begun. The weather department said the monsoon fully withdrew from Mumbai and some other parts of the state on October 3, 2026. With this, Mumbai's monsoon season for the year has officially ended, the Mumbai weather office said.
Conditions are also set for the monsoon to withdraw from most parts of Vidarbha. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon will retreat in the next two to three days from parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, Central Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and north-south-east Karnataka. For now, the monsoon is very weak across Maharashtra, with only very light rain in a few places.
In Vidarbha, the district-wise forecast says the weather is likely to remain completely dry between October 3 and October 7 in all 11 districts: Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana and Washim. No rain has been forecast for Vidarbha in these five days.
The dry spell is expected to continue till October 9. The monsoon has withdrawn, but there will be no major drop in maximum temperatures in Vidarbha, where they are currently recorded above average. Amravati recorded Vidarbha's highest temperature at 37.2 degrees Celsius, while Washim recorded the lowest minimum at 19 degrees Celsius.
In Mumbai and the suburbs, the sky was mostly clear today. Some areas are experiencing hot and humid weather. The maximum temperature in Mumbai is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 26 degrees Celsius.
The region-wise forecast for the next three days is as follows. On October 4, the weather is likely to be dry in Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha, with hot and humid conditions possible at some places in Konkan. The same is expected on October 5 in all four regions: dry weather and heat and humidity at places in Konkan.
On October 6, rain is likely at some places in Konkan and Central Maharashtra, while Marathwada and Vidarbha are expected to stay dry.
